Human Resources for Public Lands Nonprofits

Any organization’s most precious resource is its staff, the people who make the organization “go.” Yet, that resource is sometimes overlooked when it comes to engagement, development and retention. In this series, created in partnership with human resources professionals at Eastern National, we’ll begin by looking at three areas of import in the HR field. Following the initial three sessions, we’ll turn it over to our members and other public lands professionals to help us select topics. Join us as we strive to improve our collective HR practices heading into PLA 2023.

Part 3: The Power of a People-First Culture on Employee Retention and Engagement

This interactive discussion will focus on best practices for establishing and maintaining a people-first culture that promotes a high level of employee engagement. Presenters will share insights into how employee engagement can be measured and leveraged to retain top talent. Participants will be asked to share their own stories of how they approach employee engagement and retention. A toolkit of samples, templates, and other resources will be shared including employee engagement surveys that can be administered and evaluated on any budget or no budget.

Presenters:

  • Meredith McClatchy, Director of Human Resources, Eastern National
