PLA Welcomes New Board Directors

The Public Lands Alliance (PLA) is pleased to announce the appointment of new members to our Board of Directors. 

Joining the Board of Directors:

Heidi Doyle is the Executive Director of the Sierra State Parks Foundation at Lake Tahoe, California. Heidi brings over 30 years of experience with California State Parks. In addition, she has worked for the National Park Service, US Forest Service and Ventura County Parks providing valuable perspectives to PLA. Heidi currently is on the board of the California League of Park Associations and is an elected official with the North Tahoe Fire Protection District. She has lived on four continents bringing a wealth of experience, talent, determination and leadership to our organization. The mother of three grown children, Heidi lives in North Lake Tahoe with her husband and rescue dogs, Jasper and Goldie.

Joann Van Aken has been the Executive Director of the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance (IWRA) in Southeast Michigan for the past 11 years. She strives to further the mission of developing the next generation of conservation stewards for our public lands. Joann has lived most her life on the Great Lakes and, prior to her work with IWRA, she performed water quality analysis for her local municipality. She has also worked in the field of interpretation for the National Park Service at the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and with the Toledo Metroparks system.
