Veterans bring a deep sense of mission, leadership, and teamwork—qualities that align naturally with public lands stewardship. In this webinar, we’ll hear from Michael “Chappy” Chappell of the Arizona Trail Association about how organizations can more effectively engage veterans by moving beyond traditional volunteer models and creating opportunities rooted in purpose, connection, and continued service.
Drawing on ATA’s VETS (Veteran Engagement & Trail Stewardship) Program, Chappy will share why veteran-focused programming matters, how engagement strategies may differ from those used with other volunteer groups, and practical approaches to building authentic relationships with veteran communities. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to begin or strengthen veteran engagement efforts within their own organizations.
