Any organization’s most precious resource is its staff, the people who make the organization “go.” Yet, that resource is sometimes overlooked when it comes to engagement, development and retention. In this series, created in partnership with human resources professionals at Eastern National, we’ll begin by looking at three areas of import in the HR field. Following the initial three sessions, we’ll turn it over to our members and other public lands professionals to help us select topics. Join us as we strive to improve our collective HR practices heading into PLA 2023.

Part 2: Employment Law Review (From the Perspective of a Human Resources Practitioner)

This session provides an overview of federal employment laws and the requirements for employers to consider in their employment practices. We’ll look at employment laws such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and many more. Case studies and real-life scenarios will be shared to reinforce how these laws are applied in the workplace. Participants will get an overview of applicable employment laws from the perspective of a human resources practitioner to include tools and resources for applying these laws (as applicable) to employment practices, policies, and other procedures.

Cost:

  • FREE for PLA Members and PLA Corporate Partners (whole series)

  • $90 for NonMembers and Government Agency Staff (whole series)
