FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Washington, D.C. — Public Lands Alliance (PLA) is excited to announce the launch of the Public Lands Film Festival, a new program designed to help public lands nonprofit partners engage their communities through the power of storytelling.
The Public Lands Film Festival is an affordable, customizable, all-inclusive stewardship and engagement event package that allows organizations nationwide to host film screenings featuring stories from America's public lands.
America's public lands are more than forests, rivers, and mountains—they are places where people find peace, adventure, inspiration, and a connection to something larger than themselves. Through a curated collection of short films from independent filmmakers, the Public Lands Film Festival celebrates the breathtaking beauty, rich diversity, and enduring importance of these special places. Each film was chosen for its ability to inform, inspire, and remind audiences that when people come together around the places they love, extraordinary things happen.
"Storytelling has the power to deepen our connection to public lands and inspire people to care for them," said Andrea Ketchmark, PLA President and CEO. "The Public Lands Film Festival gives nonprofit partners a simple, affordable way to bring their communities together while celebrating the landscapes, stories, and people that make our public lands so special."
Designed with busy nonprofit organizations in mind, the Public Lands Film Festival makes it easy to host an engaging stewardship event. Organizations can select the films that best fit their audience, while PLA provides the resources needed for a successful event.
The program includes:
- A customizable selection of short films from independent filmmakers.
- An affordable pricing structure for both PLA members and non-members.
- Marketing materials, including press release and social media templates.
- A single video file containing all selected films for easy screening.
- Support from the PLA team throughout the planning process.
Hosting a Public Lands Film Festival is as simple as selecting films, choosing an event date and location, and inviting the community to experience the stories of America's public lands together.
Films are available for $60 per film, per showing for active PLA nonprofit members and $120 per film, per showing for non-members.
The Public Lands Film Festival is another way the Public Lands Alliance is helping nonprofit partners build capacity within their organizations to help them achieve their missions of supporting our nation’s most treasured places.
Organizations interested in hosting a Public Lands Film Festival can explore available films, select their favorites, and begin planning an event through the Public Lands Alliance.
