National Trails Day is just around the corner and Public Lands Alliance members have lined up a fantastic array of events to get everyone out and enjoying our beautiful trails. From guided hikes to community volunteer days, there's something for everyone to enjoy while giving back to our public lands.
Here’s a roundup of some of the PLA member events happening on June 1st and June 2nd, 2024!
Black Hills Parks & Forests Association x SheJumps | National Trails Day Hike | South Dakota

June 2, 2024, 9:00 am - 11:00 am (MDT)
Black Hills Parks & Forests Association, in collaboration with SheJumps, will host a nature hike at Wind Cave National Park to celebrate National Trails Day. Participants will meet at the Rankin Ridge Trailhead at 9:00 am for a 1-mile loop trail hike to the highest point in Wind Cave National Park. The hike offers beautiful vistas, potential sightings of bison herds, and insights into the unique flora, fauna, and geology of Wind Cave. The event is supported by AllTrails.
Point Reyes National Seashore Association | Trails Day | California

Point Reyes National Seashore Association will host a volunteer event to make pathways more accessible for park visitors. Volunteers will work on the pathways connecting Drakes Beach to the Kenneth C. Patrick Visitor Center parking lot, clearing ice plant overgrowth, erosion, and driftwood. Trash-picking supplies will also be provided for those who prefer lighter work.
Regional Parks Foundation | Briones Trails Pilot Project: Public Dig Days | California

The Regional Parks Foundation invites volunteers to maintain and improve select trails at Briones Regional Park. Participants will meet at the Alhambra Creek Staging Area at 9:00 am for a community dig day. Attendees are welcome to bring their own bikes and helmets if they wish to ride in. Colorado National Monument Association | National Trails Day New Member Social Hike | Colorado

The Colorado National Monument Association will host a New Member Social Hike, welcoming both experienced hikers and newcomers. Participants will meet at the Devil’s Kitchen Picnic Shelter and walk to the trailhead together. The hike is an opportunity to explore the outdoors, make new friends, and learn about upcoming CNMA events.
Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy | Guided Hike | Georgia

Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy will celebrate National Trails Day with a guided hike led by NPS Ranger Jerry Hightower at Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area - Jones Bridge. Participants will enjoy a walk on the Lutra Loop Trail through an oak and hickory forest. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
Friends of Panthertown | National Trails Day in Panthertown | North Carolina

Friends of Panthertown will host National Trails Day at Salt Rock Gap, followed by a volunteer celebration at Whiteside Brewing Co. Volunteers will help maintain and improve the trails, hike, and have fun with new and old friends.
Community Volunteer Day: Trail Blazers at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge | Colorado

Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge invites the community to steward their open space trails by participating in a volunteer day. Volunteers will meet at the Visitor Center lobby at 9:00 am. Recommended attire includes closed-toed shoes, long pants, sun protection, and a light jacket.
