On May 13th, Alaska Geographic and supporters of Alaska's public lands embarked aboard the Major Marine Tours Spirit of Matushka for the second annual Cruise for a Cause fundraiser. This charitable event proved to be an incredible success, not only in terms of funds raised but also in illustrating Alaska Geographic's unwavering commitment to supporting Alaska's public lands and fostering educational opportunities for underserved youth across the state.
With the picturesque Kenai Fjords National Park serving as their backdrop, Alaska Geographic set sail on an unforgettable cruise in Resurrection Bay. Attendees came together to enjoy the scenery, participate in a raffle and bid in a silent auction. They also heard from guest speakers from Alaska National Parks, who shared their firsthand experiences and insights into the significance of public lands and the need for environmental stewardship.
Every dollar raised during this remarkable event went directly towards advancing Alaska Geographic's mission of extending the interpretive efforts of its agency partners and expanding educational opportunities in outdoor education.
Cruise for a Cause was made possible by the generous sponsors who gave their support and increased Alaska Geographic's community outreach and mission visibility. Some of these sponsors include Major Marine Tours, Humpy's Great Alaska Alehouse, Wild Scoops, and Sami's City Diner, but you can visit the Cruise for a Cause page for the complete list of silent auction donors.
Alaska Geographic's Cruise for a Cause fundraiser was not just a voyage across Resurrection Bay but a collective endeavor to celebrate Alaska's wild lands and nurture a passion for public lands within future generations. The resounding success of this event, doubling their first year's impact and raising over $21,000, speaks volumes about the shared commitment of Alaska Geographic and its supporters. Together, they are forging a brighter future where the wonders of Alaska's public lands are cherished, protected, and enjoyed by all.
