SACRAMENTO, CA and SILVER SPRING, MD – The California League of Park Associations (CALPA) and the Public Lands Alliance (PLA) are joining forces to elevate the connectivity and capacity of cooperating associations and other nonprofit partners supporting California State Parks. Through a new joint membership program, nonprofit partners of California State Parks will gain unprecedented access to online training and educational resources, as well as a national community of nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving all of America's public lands and their visitors.

The joint membership program preserves the unique missions of CALPA and PLA, while leveraging the strengths of both partners to deliver high-quality services to their member organizations.

“The California League of Park Associations is thrilled to announce this new partnership with PLA. We have long sought the best model to offer enriching educational opportunities to our members as well as connect them with a wider network of partners. This delivers on both fronts and we are eager to begin this work together,” said Cheryl Marcell, President of CALPA.

"The Public Lands Alliance believes that the best way to preserve America's public lands and to enrich the experiences of their visitors is to have a strong network of nonprofit partners making incredible impacts," stated PLA Executive Director Dan Puskar. "PLA is excited to embark on this new program with CALPA, a longstanding backbone of private support for California State Parks, and hopes this partnership can become a model to enhance state parks and partnerships across the nation."

The new joint membership program launches on July 1, 2018.
